Sealed For Life Batteries (SFL)
The maintenance free product termed "sealed for life" uses flooded lead acid technology, therefore it has to be vented, its box cannot be totally sealed. They have extra chemicals added to stop water usage within the battery, therefore eliminating the need to top up or maintain. |

Absorbed Glass Matt Batteries (AGM)
This technology has the electrolyte absorbed in glass matt between the plates. The improvement this makes to both capacity and performance makes it ideal for most applications. This battery may be used in any orientation and will give 100% of the stated capacity. |

Inverters / Combi
An inverter is used to convert battery DC voltage into mains AC voltage to allow the use of mains powered appliances in a portable environment. A combi is an inverter and charger combined. Pure Sine is used where a digital counter is required (digital washing machine, microwave, clock, etc). Modified sine can be used for all other applications. Multicell stock ranges of both Pure sine and modified sine inverters and combis. |

Battery Chargers
Battery chargers come in two forms; mains powered and DC powered, each having their own specialist characteristics. The mains units operate from landline or generator, being used mainly in static locations. The DC fed units are engine based primarily for use when on the move. |

Introduction to Marine & Leisure Batteries
Within this section are the batteries and associated products that are the mainstream providers of power within your leisure activity. Whether its marine, caravan, motorhome, holiday home or chalet, the products listed are suitable for year round use. Many more people are taking to the water and touring in motorhomes on retirement and the extra load put on the power system needs to be addressed.
However we are not all the same in our needs and neither are our vehicles and vessels. Therefore it is essential to ensure the complete system is balanced to supply your needs when you require them and then recharge the system in the time frame needed.
Multicell will assist you to achieve this by combining our complete range of power conversion products with our various battery technologies.
Starter, traction, leisure and standby are all different forms of lead acid technology, the two most modern forms are GEL and AGM. GEL (is as it sounds) uses a gelled electrolyte and AGM is an abbreviation for absorbed glass matt. Multicell favour AGM batteries as the most versatile because they are more suited to varied applications. Whilst wet batteries are the most commonly used, it is not unknown for starter batteries to be labeled as leisure. Although they will work, their lifespan will be greatly shortened. Common terms used in this field are; Deep Cycle, Carbon Fibre and semi-traction. These generic terms apply to nearly all leisure batteries. |
