History of Multicell

Multicell began in 1989 primarily providing industry, with a comprehensive service to fulfil their battery requirements. Our in depth knowledge of battery technology enables us to competently deal with all types of cell chemistry from Sealed Lead Acid through Nicad & Nickel Metal Hydride to include Lithium and Alkaline.

Special assemblies are also undertaken for the M.O.D, Police Forces and Utilities within our in house design and development lab and comprehensive modern assembly workshop. In the late 1990’s we started to provide batteries for more commercial and retail applications, using our expertise to create all kinds of power solutions for many applications, offering the public and retail a value for money service at our extensively stocked trade counters at our three regional depots. Managing Director - Tony Whitehorn has been in the battery business for over 20 years and has been running Multicell with his wife Cynthia since 1989.

Tony says, "I believe Multicell's success is down to the way we educate customers before they purchase their required battery to ensure it will service their needs in the best possible way".

Multicell Head Quarters – Leicester

In 1999 the trade counter was launched providing a trade and public outlet for car, commercial, marine, retail and many other battery applications.

Operations Manager - Clive Ringrose has been with Multicell for 15 years learning all aspects of battery building and battery technologies. He works very closely with the M.D to ensure the company is kept abreast of new developments within the battery industries.

Multicell – Norwich

Battery Specialists Plus was acquired in 1998 giving multicell coverage of East Anglia and the Marine expertise gained from the Norfolk Boards Boat fraternity.

There has been a gradual phase out of the old name and planned expansion has resulted in their new premises at Barrow Close.

Depot manager - Richard Cornell is relatively new to the Multicell but has Primary Battery Experience and has quickly become an integral part of the team.

Multicell – Evesham

To service our expanding customer base a depot was launched at Evesham Marina in 2002, offering the same customer service and products available at our other depots.

Depot Manager - Richard Marsden has been with Multicell for 8 years,  he began as a bench hand and has worked his way up to his current position. His product knowledge and experience enables him to deal efficiently with all battery related problems.
